Auto-scan for active channels
What it does
SimpleInstead of you turning the dial by hand to find busy channels, Recon does it for you. It quickly checks lots of frequencies one after another and stops whenever it hears something, so you catch signals you'd never find by guessing.
It's like having a robot helper that runs its finger along every channel and taps you on the shoulder the moment it finds one that's alive.
How it works
SimpleRecon jumps to a frequency, listens for a split second, and asks 'is anything here?' If it's quiet, it hops to the next one. If it hears something loud enough, it stops so you can listen, then carries on when the channel goes quiet again.
How to use it, step by step
Simple- Open the 'Recon' app.
- Set a start and an end frequency.
- Set how picky it is (the squelch) so it ignores quiet noise.
- Let it scan — it stops when it finds something busy.
- Save the good ones to your list to visit again.
Examples
Scan 433 MHz ± a few MHz to catch every doorbell, sensor, and remote that fires in range.
Load a list of local channels and let Recon watch them all, stopping whenever one comes alive.
Run Recon across a band, save every hit, and end up with your own map of what's active near you.
Tips & things to try
- Squelch too low and it stops on noise; too high and it skips real signals — tune it to just above the noise floor.
- Smaller steps catch more but scan slower; match the step to the channel spacing of what you're hunting.
- Pair it with the Frequency Manager so your discoveries are saved, not lost when you power off.
