KISS TNC
Packet-radio modem over USB
#utility#tnc#packet#ax25#aprs
What it does
SimpleA TNC is a special modem for 'packet radio' — sending computer data over the airwaves. This app makes the device act as that modem, connected to your computer over USB, so software on the computer can send and receive packets through the radio.
How it works
SimpleThe computer sends data to the device over USB; the device turns it into radio tones and sends it, and does the reverse for incoming packets.
How to use it, step by step
Simple- Connect the device to a computer by USB.
- Open 'KISS TNC'.
- Point your packet-radio software at it.
- Send and receive packets.
Examples
APRS from a laptop
Run APRS software on your computer using the device as the TNC.
AX.25 experiments
Send raw AX.25 frames from a host stack through the radio.
Tips & things to try
- Transmitting packet radio needs an amateur licence.
- It's the bridge between the device and classic packet-radio software.
